| Partnership Working |
Middlesbrough Environment City is committed to working in partnership with organisations, groups and individuals from all sectors of the community to help make Middlesbrough a more sustainable place. We have over 150 partners including local authorities, educational establishments, environmental organisations and community groups.
Environmental Education Specialist Working Group
In 2004,
Middlesbrough Environment City convened a specialist working group to help
co-ordinate schools work delivered by the different environmental organisations
in the town, with the key aim of assisting schools in contacting the most
appropriate partner for help and advice. Following an initial mapping exercise,
it was agreed to provide information to all schools on the services provided by
each partner and develop better co-ordination of information sent to schools,
helping to both improve the service provided to schools and reduce the total
amount of information sent. The group is currently developing a proposal to roll
out the Ecoschools programme across Middlesbrough.
Community Environment Forum
MEC continues to facilitate the Community Environment Forum, which is now in its seventh year. The forum meets regularly during the year to discuss MEC projects, develop new project ideas and plan events and activities. With the implementation of the new Local Strategic Partnership and Community Strategy in Middlesbrough, there is an exciting future for the forum, providing an opportunity for local people to contribute to the development of large scale environmental initiatives in the town, become involved in running the next community environmental conference and gain additional support for their local environmental groups and projects.
