| Home Energy/ Warmer Families |
Middlesbrough Environment City is continuing our battle to address the issues of affordable warmth, which still exists within the Middlesbrough Community, with a Home Energy/Warmer Families Project which is part of Middlesbrough Councils Affordable Warmth Strategy.
The project aims to identify the most disadvantaged and vulnerable people, which includes, elderly people, BME and Asylum Seeker communities, families and disadvantaged young people, who are still living in fuel poverty or are in danger of entering fuel poverty.
Working with, health care and social agencies, and community groups to identify the people in most need of assistance, and where necessary, hand-holding them through the process of implementing home insulation and heating improvements to their properties. Offering benefit entitlement checks and a free fire safety inspection coupled with home energy efficiency advice.
Most work is expected to be free of charge using the various grant agencies, but for the able to pay people there is a low cost scheme available through this project. At present, one of our schemes offers FREE cavity and loft insulation to the over 70 year olds.
STOP PRESS!! Middlesbrough Cycle Centre in the central bus station is now being utilized to promote this project with the Project Officer being in attendance each Tuesday for any energy efficiency advice queries and distributing FREE energy saving light bulbs!
