The Cycle Centre moved from Gilkes Street to the Middlesbrough Bus Station in June 2008 and since then 2078 members have joined the Centre. The Cycle Centre sees an average of 45 members using the facilities on a daily basis and these numbers are on the rise, demonstrating the benefits of the higher profile location. The Centre provides secure cycle parking with access to lockers, showers and changing facilities for members.

Membership is free and can be applied for in Centre or online by visiting:

www.middlesbroughcyclecentre.co.uk The Centre is involved in a number of projects at present.

One of these is the cycle recycle scheme whereby the participant is issued with a redundant cycle and is shown the skills required to repair it to a roadworthy condition. The course lasts around 12 hours and can be delivered in several different ways. On completion the participant will receive an OCN Cycle Maintenance qualification and will be given the opportunity to keep the bike and attend National Standards road safety training.

The Cycle Centre has also delivered National Standards road safety training to 700 adults based in workplaces in and around Middlesbrough as part of the Healthy Town funded Incentivised Bike Scheme. Participants received two hours of training along with a subsidised bike and safety equipment.  The Cycle Centre is also delivering Bikeability cycle training in Middlesbrough schools.
